Avignon & environs

We have been staying in Avignon for a few days. The first day involved an obligatory visit to the papal palace:

...and containing some climbable trees:

The next day, we woke up to the cold mistral wind blowing from the north. Undeterred, we headed to the Pont du Gard - a Ronan aqueduct:
It was COLD:

The weather warmed up today, so we ventured out into the countryside. In the morning, we visited the beautiful Grotte de Thouzon:
And in the afternoon, we hiked from Beaumes de Venise to Vacqueyras - two wine-making villages in the foothills of the Dentelles mountains:
