Lenny's afternoon in Avignon

A post by Robert: Lenny and I spent an afternoon in Avignon. The sweet treats along the way were consumed faster than I could photograph, but here are a few pictures of the activities, starting with a carousel in the main square:



Then, we took the free ferry to the Barthelase island and back:


After racing up to the Rocher du Dom, we needed some drinks to rehydrate (and yes, that's the Papal palace in the background):


Then, we drove to Villeneuve de Avignon across the river ( a "new" town in that it is younger than Avignon, but still pretty old). There, we climbed some rocks:
 Across the street from the rocks was a defensive tower built hundreds of years ago, and we climbed that too so we could shoot some pretend arrows at the attackers:

We ended the busy afternoon of tourism with a visit to nearby cloisters:
