Luberon biking

For the last two days, we have been in the Luberon - a hilly area in Northern Provence. We are sharing a rental house with my friend Hector, pictured here at the entrance to the grounds:


The main reason we are here is to bike around. Here are Colette and Lenny doing just that:
The area has many roads good for biking. This particular dirt road is actually quite uphill...
...but it leads to the beautiful hilltop village of Rousillon, famous for ochre mines, and hence colored in red:

And here we are biking up to Lacoste - the village closest to our house:
Lacoste is topped by a beautiful if ruined castle, and surrounded by vineyards:
And here we are biking though Menerbes -yet another village:

And yes, we visited one more village- Oppede. This one was deserted in 20th century before being repopulated by artists...
There is a restaurant in the main square - a perfect spot for lunch.
